The camera also has several settings such as aperture or Shutter priority modes to assist with evenly regulating exposure making it easy to use for 1st timers. After reading the manual every picture i took came out in amazing quality. The tilt screen makes taking pictures at impossible angles easy. The 24 x zoom lets you take close ups from impossible lengths.
Or get out there and take some pictures. Winter photos can be really dramatic with the white of the snow and the color contrast. If you have a DSLR you can play with the settings and come up with some real good results. The cameras meter will get you close and than just move the f-stop up or down (higher or lower numbers). Or play with the shutter speed ( same way as before). Its called bracketing.

Just take one more picture. It doesn’t cost much and the rewards may be ten fold. Buy a memory card or a camera from my store. Just take more frickin photos. I take ten or twelve on any givin shot and adjust the f stop or shutter speed. Its called bracketing. When you find a shot that you think you might like and are not sure how it may come out. Then you bracket by adjusting the f stop or shutter speed up and down. work with your meter to see if you are in the ball park and then play with it.
It is kind of like steppping up and down with your shutter speed and f stop. Remember the larger number f stop the longer the depth of field. ( that means more of the picture will be in focus). From foreground to background. The Nikon D40 can make all of this happen. If you want to do this kind of bracketing you will need a DSLR or a camera with manual settings.
